I first saw this video over at the blog of Mrs. Sparrow and I almost wet my pants laughing. It’s a funny portrayal of Australia’s wildlife. It’s true though; we have scary spiders, snakes and slippery things in the ocean you’d rather not cross your path with. Apart from the spiders I don’t come across the other deadly animals on a regular basis.
I better not show this video to my family or friends if I still want them to come over and spend some time with me. However, I do like to share the video with the readers of my blog.
Not long ago my parents received a very special gift from some family members; a flight to Australia. I can not wait for them to come over and show them around this beautiful country. I would like to show them all around the area where we live, the different houses we have lived in so far, etc. But the best thing will be all the great attractions we have here in Australia.
The first place I would love to take them to is the famous Australia Zoo from the Irwin family. My parents used to watch the Crocodile Hunter a lot and I am sure they would love to see more wildlife at the Zoo. Other things I would love to show them are some beautiful national parks that are around the area. My parents love to hike and a lot of national parks have great trails that you can follow.
Depending on how long they are going to come over for, I might even take them to outback. I have traveled through the outback in 1999 and it is so completely different from anything else that I am sure they would love to have that same experience as well.
The luxury problem of Australia is that there is so much to see and so much to do.
Forget about Santa’s Sleigh in the snow, it is stinking hot in Australia around Christmas time. I find it kind of hilarious to walk into a shopping center and see a big display with Christmas trees, a snow man, fake snow and Santa Claus absolutely sweating his bum off in his big red suit. It just really looks out of place and unreal.Somehow it just doesn’t feel right. Even though they start to play Christmas songs in October and all shops are beautifully decorated with Christmas ornaments and lights, it just doesn’t bring me in the Christmas spirit. If anything it makes me really home sick.
Christmas in Australia is having a BBQ on the beach, sweating your bum off in the hot weather. It is nice to experience once, but not every year. I’d rather be with my family on the other side of the world.
