Some people should not be allowed to have children. DH’s sister is a perfect example of this. Problem is that she is pregnant.. Again! She is pregnant with her fourth child, just because she wants to cash in the $3000 she will get from the government for having the baby and to get child support so she doesn’t have to work.
She had her first child when she was only a teenager. She felt like she was missing out on life and basically abandoned her son so she could could drink, party, screw guys and who knows what else she was up to.
DH’s mum took care of the kid until she had enough of him and dumped him at DH’s brother. Every now and then DH’s sister took the boy back, but was unable to take good care of him. He was sleeping on concrete floors and got ice cream as meals. He got pretty ill, lost a kidney and was dumped again at DH’s brother. A lot of things have happened and I don’t want to go into detail, but it is heart breaking. No one deserves to go through what he has gone through, especially not a child at his age.
I think we were all in shock when she announced she was pregnant again. This time she got pregnant because she knew her current boyfriend wanted to leave her. He did the right thing (just as she hoped) and stayed to take care of her second son. Her first son moved in with her and we all hoped that her boyfriend would have a good influence and he would be taken care of properly.
Although things have improved, her first son is a bit like a black sheep to her. The second son gets spoiled rotten whereas the oldest has to do all the chores, gets an earful on a regular basis and simply doesn’t get treated the same way. She even forgot his birthday this year. As a family we try to make up for it by taking him out of the house for weekends, etc. He absolutely loves it and simply doesn’t want to go home.
Last year she gave birth to a baby girl and if possible it gets spoiled even more than the second son. Her first son on the other hand is getting more difficult to handle. He feels like he is being treated unfair compared to his brother and sister and is standing up to her. I feel sorry for him, because he is truly one of the sweetest kids I know.
Yesterday we got a phone call that she is pregnant again. I don’t know what to think of it. DH didn’t know what to say when he heard the news. He could not even congratulate her. How do you congratulate someone when you know that she neglects her other child?
